Mishi is a fourth-year Plant Biology PhD candidate with a Designated Emphasis in Biotechnology studying the genetic basis of resistance to Fusarium wilt in strawberry. She has a BS in Molecular Biology from Eckerd College where she researched Fusarium wilt resistance in cantaloupe and has worked at the USDA Plant Gene Expression Center and Boyce Thompson Institute. Mishi is interested in studying resistance genes in crops for the development of resistant cultivars for commercial use. She also serves as Editor-in-Chief for Science Says, a graduate student organization at UC Davis focused on science communication and outreach. In her free time, she can be found either fostering too many kittens at once or playing softball on her grad group team, the Bad Farmers.
